I am an American and have lived in the UK since 2002. I am married to a German citizen and we have had two children. We are considering divorce and am wondering whether I can still live in the UK with our children after we divorce or should we only separate so that I can continue to live in the UK?
Married or not you would almost certainly be granted Indefinite Leave to Remain on the basis of the length of residence (5+ years) and the residence rights of your children. There would be no need for you to remain married to do so.
